The resources deployed to the project

Team

A team of 85 QMM employees under the guidance of Manon Vincelette, head of Community Affairs, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development works on a number of environmental projects, including:

  • Tree nurseries, seed storage and propagation facilities;
  • Ecological restoration and reforestation of mined areas;
  • Creation of non-invasive fuel wood plantations;
  • Research into the viability of non-timber forest products;
  • Creation of new protected area on inside and outside the mining areas (the latter being “offsets” against the negative impacts of mining activities);
  • Endemic flora species programme; and
  • Monitoring and management of mammals, primates, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fishes, and invertebrates populations.
