Maximising economic impact

We aim to employ local people and limit migrant or expatriate labour where possible. Our most direct and important contribution to regional economic growth will come from training, employment and supplier contracts. Procurement policies that are preferential to local suppliers and distributors will also help maximise potential for growth.

We work actively to ensure the mining project leads to economic empowerment and wealth creation in the Fort-Dauphin region that continues long after mining has finished. We develop knowledge baselines, partnerships and internal competencies that underpin sustainable economic development.

Local recruitment strategy
Before construction began, we assessed the potential of the local workforce to meet project needs.

Post-recruitment development programmes
In an isolated and impoverished area such as Fort-Dauphin, employment and safety may be new concepts to the new employee.
