Key objectives of the biodiversity programme

We aim to

Protect and conserve the unique biodiversity of the mining sites and other related infrastructures
Identify opportunities to enhance biodiversity conservation
Build capacity for better use of the natural resources
Promote fast growing plantations for community use, biodiversity conservation, rehabilitation and dune stabilisation
Work towards the restoration of the natural ecosystems and rehabilitation of the land
Ensure compliance with environmental management programmes and assessments, EMP, SEIA, SEMP, and commitment with the Malagasy Government's ONE
Ensure compliance with Rio Tinto's environmental standards, biodiversity strategy and principles, and community standards
