HIV/AIDS programme

We support national and regional efforts to reduce the spread of the infection and minimise the impact of the disease. These efforts take place within the context of a regional prevention strategy and as a member of a coalition of donors and NGOs working alongside public health authorities to deliver a comprehensive package of community prevention interventions.

Regional programme support has included:

  • Situational assessment studies
  • Support to community peer education programmes
  • Technical and material assistance to the local HIV/AIDS committee
  • Support to the Commercial Sex Workers Association
  • The procurement of social marketed health products
  • Investment in local VCT facilities

Many of our collaborations fall within a Global Development Alliance with USAID. HIV/AIDS prevention, monitoring and evaluation are key interventions in this alliance. They include:

Other partners include the National HIV/AIDS Prevention Committee (CNLS), UNDP, UNFPA through the Maison de Jeunesse and GTZ.
